Sixty-Fourth Yearbook
Each year, the National Society for the Study of Education (NSSE) publishes a study of the current trends and issues of an educational subject. The 1964 NSSE yearbook features art education. The yearbook addresses the following topics: young children, early adolescence, adolescence, the economically and socially deprived, art instruction, art supervisors, teacher education, the future of art education, and the incorporation of theory and research into practice.
The Process of Education
The Process of Education, by Jerome Bruner is published in 1960. Bruner proposes that curricula should be structured by disciplines, not subjects. Unlike subjects such as spelling, disciplines exist outside of the classroom and are relevant to the real world.
