This website is devoted to the history of American art education. Organized chronologically like chapters in a book, each page of information takes the reader on a journey through the history of art education.
Part I. provides a brief overview of Western European influences dating from the time of antiquity to the modern world. In part II, chapters are arranged in 20-30 year increments dating from Colonial America to the present day. Within each chapter, information regarding important events and movements, influential figures, and key documents is easily located.
The website was developed and all entries were written by art education graduate students at the University of North Texas who were enrolled in a course in the History of Art Education with Professor D. Jack Davis in the fall of 2005. Entries will be updated and added regularly by students enrolled in future courses.
