THEORIES

Artist is Genius-Leonardo da Vinci
The artist along with the arts began rising to higher forms of respectability. The artist, rather than being thought of as one part of an entire process, began to be thought of as a genius with "Divine" powers. One of the best examples of these gifted artists is Leonardo da Vinci. Along with art, da Vinci also had an active interest in science. He not only drew people and places, but machines and inventions that we now see today. Leonardo also wrote a treatise on drawing and painting that acted as a text book for art students. He suggested that students first draw from master's works, then from three dimensional casts of the human figure, and finally from a live model. These rules transcended the years and are still followed by art students.
